Grill House BANFF – Steak & Drinks Near Oimachi Station
日本語サイトはこちら(Visit the Japanese site here)
Let me introduce one of my long-time favorites – Grill House BANFF.
Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the Hankyu side exit of Oimachi Station, it's incredibly easy to access.
What really sets BANFF apart is the atmosphere – rather than a formal restaurant, it feels more like a cozy, izakaya-style steakhouse.
In addition to steaks, they offer a wide variety of bar snacks and drinks, making it a perfect place to unwind.
So if you're looking for a casual and friendly spot to enjoy great food and drinks, this grill-style pub is definitely worth a visit.
KuRu -Local Bar & Food Guide in Ooimachi, Tokyo-
We created this guide with one simple goal — to bring more people to Oimachi and help them truly enjoy it.
Unlike major gourmet websites, this guide features real, honest recommendations from someone who actually lives in Oimachi. We hope it helps you discover a local izakaya you’ll love.
Comments are more than welcome — but please understand that every restaurant featured here is one of my personal favorites. Negative or insulting remarks won’t be posted, so please don’t waste your time.
About the Food Menu
Main Dishes
At the moment, the only steak option on the menu is the sirloin steak.
A few years ago, they also offered ribeye and filet steaks. Personally, I was especially fond of the filet.
Unfortunately, due to factors like the pandemic and the weak yen, only the sirloin remains available today.
That said, here's what I highly recommend instead — the hamburger steak.
I absolutely love this version — it's not your typical heavy, beefy patty.
While those who prefer a chunky, 100% beef, coarse-ground burger might find it a bit mild,
I still encourage you to try it at least once. There's something truly satisfying about its delicate flavor and texture.
Steak flambéed with brandy at your table
To finish the steak, the chef performs a flambé using brandy or rum, which helps remove any unwanted meat odor while adding a rich aroma.
At Banff, they probably use brandy — but that part’s a bit of a secret.
If you're sitting at the counter near the grill, you can enjoy the whole flambé performance right before your eyes. It’s a feast for both the senses and the appetite!
Other Signature Mains Besides Steak
It's not just steak and hamburg steak — you’ll also find tasty mains like chicken with chasseur sauce.
Be sure to give them a try!
Drinking Snacks
As mentioned earlier, this isn't your typical “steakhouse.”
In addition to steak, the menu features a wide variety of dishes — from prosciutto and grilled seafood to unique local specialties like nozawana pickles.
To give you a better sense of the lineup, I’ve included a few photos below.
I’ll also be updating this section regularly, so feel free to check back anytime!
The grilled shrimp with butter and seafood mix come with a side of ponzu sauce, which adds a refreshing citrus kick.
But here’s a little secret only regulars know:
The leftover ponzu, infused with rich umami from the seafood, is absolutely delicious to sip at the end. Try it — if you know, you know.
While there aren’t photos, dishes like grilled grated yam (tororo) and sautéed chicken gizzards with green onions also pair beautifully with drinks.
Be sure to explore the side menu — there’s a lot more to enjoy beyond the main dishes!
Seating & Atmosphere
As you walk in, you'll find a counter on the right with a teppan grill directly in front of you.
It’s the perfect spot to enjoy the sights and sounds of the kitchen — from the fiery flambé moments to the satisfying sizzle of ingredients hitting the grill.
That’s why new visitors are often seated here to soak in the full energy of the place.
There are about 10 counter seats, and toward the far end is what regulars fondly call the “locals’ corner” — a cozy spot ideal for chatting with the staff.
In addition, there are table seats for up to four people, often used by office groups or families enjoying a meal together.
Overall, the atmosphere is lively and casual, so it might not be ideal for a formal business dinner.
However, for couples, coworkers, or anyone looking for a fun, relaxed night out — it’s a great choice.
